If senior pictures are not about the yearbook picture, then what is the purpose of them? If it's just about this important time in a high school graduate's life, then any well lit phone picture taken at the right angle might do, right? We all have our favorite pictures that didn't cost a thing. So what is it really all about if everyone is a photographer capable of taking good photos?

I'm just going to show you...
It's about heirloom luxury products like albums, gallery wrapped canvases and professionally mounted prints. It's about the experience! High school graduates will often come back and tell me that their senior session was a highlight of their whole year because it was so fun to plan outfits, get professional hair & makeup done, and meet up in a beautiful location with a photographer who puts them at ease and makes them feel free to be themselves.


It's definitely not a necessity like the yearbook photo is. It's an extra special experience. Many seniors go and do the yearbook photo with the chain studio their high school assigned them to go to, but then set up a senior portrait session with me because they have an eye for natural light photography and recognize the difference.  The portraits I take may or may not be in the senior yearbook depending on the high school's policy, but I've been doing this long enough to know that they will be the portraits that are framed and treasured for years.
