Your senior portrait is so much more than just a head shot picture for the yearbook. Your senior portrait should capture your style and true personality. Here are some styling tips for guys who are planning out what they should wear for their photo session.
1. Plan your outfits in advance, not the day before. If you've booked a GOLD session with me, you can pick out two outfits. If you've chosen the LUXE option then you may plan to wear up to four outfits. Get an opinion from someone you trust who really knows your style and what colors look good on you. It helps to take pictures of yourself in the outfits if you are having a hard time narrowing down some favorites.
2. Consider your favorite stores. Check out a J. Crew catalog or an online look book to see what outfits you like the look of, for the season you are getting your portraits done in. Perhaps consider one casual look and a more formal look. Remember that layers and clothing that doesn't wrinkle photograph nicely.
3. Plan the shoes too! Remember I'll be capturing you doing your thing, so your shoes are going to show. Just make sure they aren't worn or dirty looking.
4. Avoid clothing with big logos. Also, this might be obvious but really look at your clothing in bright light for holes or stains. My lens will capture everything.
5. Keep it simple. No worries here! I hope that these tips show you how easy it is and help you feel confident in whatever you pick. You can wear your first outfit to the session if it is material that doesn't wrinkle. If it is prone to wrinkling (cotton, linen) iron it and hang it in the car and change into it when you get to your session location.
