Dear Class of 2020 High School Seniors,

This was supposed to be your eventful year that celebrates 12 years of your hard work at school. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic you've been robbed of many of the events and traditions you were looking forward to and perhaps will not get to celebrate as initially planned. Senior Prom, sports events and banquets, the list goes on and on. I'm so sorry. You have every right to be so disappointed. My heart breaks for the loss you must feel.

I hope that you feel the world's support of what your class is going through. I've noticed the trend in posting senior photos (no matter how ancient) to support the class of 2020 on social media. For now, I don't think I will jump on that trend, as I want to be sensitive and figure out how support you in a tangible way. Everyone means well of course, but I have a unique position in that it's my job to make high school seniors shine and can really reach out and do something. I am listening to how I can truly support you during this time.  Please let me know if you have an idea and trust that I've got a few ideas brewing too. We'll all be smiling with our friends again, and we'll find a way to make it extra memorable.

I have to say, there is something really special about the graduating class of 2020. One would totally expect to see social media posts from your class about the unfairness of it all, that is only natural. I've noticed the opposite! I've seen so much optimism and resilience from your class through social media. Posts of positivity and challenges that involve lifting one another up. Can I just tell you how incredible that is?

I keep thinking about how your class was born when our country was grappling with the aftermath of the terrorist attacks of 9/11.  It is as if your destiny was to be the bright spots in our world, becoming our living hope for a better tomorrow. You have helped us look past the uncertainty and press on for a better future, right from the get go. The Class of 2020 will never be forgotten.  Hang in there and keep showing everyone how to keep your chin up with your good humor and creativity. Trust that your example during this time shows us all a better way to make lemonade out of the lemons in life.
Class of 2020, you make us all proud!

Love,
Denise

Connecticut seniors who didn't fit in a session earlier, it's not too late.  I'd love to hear from you if you'd like information on a summer portrait session. We will be booking sessions as soon as the governor allows non-essential businesses to reopen.
