It was a pleasure to take portraits of this Granby Memorial High School, Class of 2022 senior! I very much enjoy when I get to meet the younger siblings of former senior portrait clients. I got to take his older sister's senior portraits just two years ago. It really is an honor to be a part of an entire families senior year experience and hear how the older sibling or siblings are faring away at college. It's also awesome for me to assist my clients in adding to their gallery wall and creating something special with future high school graduates in mind. This session was a perfect September afternoon. Enjoy these images from a local Connecticut field at a favorite state park of mine, Topsmead. 

Something I really love is how timeless this natural setting and clothing style are. I think a portrait can be especially stunning when the clothing style isn't particularly giving away the trends of the decade that the portrait was taken in. What year was this taken in? It doesn't really matter, what matters is that the senior is shining with pride for all of their accomplishments thus far. I put the focus on the hopes and dreams of the senior, which are often not seen but felt with the heart. That is why I assist with the clothing and location choice based on complimenting the senior's personal style, hopes, and dreams. I want the inner light of my subject to shine even more beautifully than what the eye beholds of the clothing or setting. When the senior knows that they are holding those hopes and dreams in their mind, that is how we capture the shining moment.
