Senior portraits are an important milestone in the life of a high school student and you want to shine and portray your unique personality. You'll have this portrait your whole life and will share it with the next generation. First off, I recommend at least one outfit that is timeless and classy. More and more, senior guys have been opting to dress more formally with shirt and tie and even a suit. These are great options as it photographs well and will always be in style. Make sure your more formal pick has been ironed and hung up on hangers in the car. This will prevent any wrinkles that may appear as you drive to the location of your senior portrait session in the car. Another great thing about adding a tie, is it can be taken off for a slightly more casual look with jeans. 


 

Great options for a casual look are jeans and a basic T-shirt or collared polo shirt that fits you well in a color that compliments your eye color or skin tone. Again, just take a close look at your clothing in bright sunlight to make sure it is in new condition without holes or stains. The camera lens sees everything!

You may have a hobby or sport that are important to you that you would like to somehow feature in your senior portrait session. Don't worry about coming up with poses with those items. Your photographer will know how to explain to you how to subtly hold them in the picture so that you still shine and are the main focus. 

If you already have your cap and gown, you can bring that to the session. Even holding the cap and slinging the gown over your shoulder makes for a great graduation celebration shot! 

Finally, another great item to bring to your senior portrait session is a college shirt if you have already made your college choice. When it comes time to send out your graduation announcements, it's a great image to include so that your friends and family know your plans for beyond high school after you graduate.
